Once used to cut wood, now the saw is the tree. . .

Incorporating unique home decor that embraces upcycled materials can transform your living space into a rustic haven inspired by nature. By repurposing items, you not only reduce waste but also create distinctive artwork that tells a story. By utilizing a cutting torch I cut out unique designs on old handsaw blades which gives them new life as wall hanging art in the form of a tree.

Oxy-acetylene torch cutting is a widely used method in metal fabrication for processing steel. This technique utilizes a flame produced by the combustion of acetylene and oxygen, which reaches temperatures of approximately 3,500 degrees Fahrenheit. As the flame contacts the steel, it heats the metal to its melting point. Then a steady stream of oxygen is applied through the cutting tip, which oxidizes the molten steel, effectively blowing it away and creating a clean cut. The speed and angle of the torch, along with the thickness of the steel being cut, play crucial roles in achieving precise results.

Measures approx. 30’’ x 6’’
